What a thought-provoking article, as always, Donnette.
Thank you for sharing your wonderful slant on an emotive subject that will affect so many of us.
It's certainly something I've been thinking about increasingly in the past year or so.
There's no definitive approach to this inevitable outcome.
Our circumstances vary in so many ways and our own natures will influence whether we will seek a level of support to which we feel entitled or, alternatively, whether we choose not to be a burden.
There's also a strong generational consideration to factor into this mix.
A lot is going to depend on the relationship you experienced with your parents and the relationship you nurtured with your children.
Somewhere amongst all of this, when that time arrives as it inevitably will, I believe and hope a chosen, appropriate, and deserved outcome will be forthcoming.
However, in making their decision (not mine), I would want my children not to make it out of a sense of duty, but rather a sense of love.
