That's quite a learning curve, Sandra.

I'm proud (but not too proud) to say that I made sure my two grown-up daughters, while still being my princesses, know how to roll their sleeves up, paint, decorate, carry out basic DIY, change a tyre, chop logs, mow the grass, empty the bins... You get the idea.

Some of the passing boyfriends along the way lacked their knowledge and skills.

In the modern world, these are not just the jobs for the boys.

The blue jobs and the pink jobs both need to be learned and shared.

For the record, this morning I've baked a steak and ale pie for supper and ironed the laundry. If I've got time after doing some shopping, I'll do some housework.

In my view, these are life skills for the real world, the sooner they're learned the better.
