They mean so much more than the few pennies I'll earn from the words I've written.

You're in good company. Unfortunately, the vast majority of us won't be successful on Medium and the sooner we're aware of the reality, probably the better. I write on the platform because I enjoy it and it's convenient. I learn so much and have discovered some wonderful writers out there.

For me though, it has to be about quality - Not quantity; follow-for-follow; or clickbait.

And take heart, there are some exceptionally talented and inspiring writers tucked away experiencing the frustrations I'm sure we all feel on Medium. It's worth delving deep and building a library of contributors that inspire you.
