Medium won't provide a meaningful income for 99% of writers on the platform. There are some cracking writers out there among all the chaff, but unfortunately, for the vast majority, the rewards on this platform are pitiful. That's the stark reality.

Keep writing because you love doing so and people love reading your words - Myself among them.

Just don't rely on Medium. The algorithm is not developed for the benefit of the writers, but those it serves.

Consider writing on other platforms. Write for other publications. Write a book; write a children's book drawing on your teaching experience; write a newsletter that will serve your local community and build up your own list of email subscribers.

Why not offer to write a weekly column in your local paper on local topics and use your knowledge and experience to make a difference.

Anyway, just a few random thoughts offering some options outside Medium. There are many.
