These days, sadly, you're in the minority if you haven't been scammed in one form or another. I've been a victim.

A dear friend and neighbour of mine who lives on his own was also recently the subject of a strikingly similar and calculating deception and his life-savings were extracted from his bank account. It was quite harrowing.

Unfortunately, these vile and heartless individuals have created a dark industry built on fear and violate the trusting nature of unsuspecting souls.

What you have that they will never have is empathy and humanity and the love and respect of your family and your many friends here on Medium.

And, I'm a great believer in Karma, Jay. Their reckoning will come.
